CLC Receives National Award for Global Education Opportunities

The College of Lake County is the only community college in the United States to win a Sen Award. Paul Simon 2022 for the internationalization of the campus, officials announced on Wednesday.

The award is presented by a national group dedicated to making students productive members of a global society.

It reflects CLC’s efforts to recruit international students, send CLC students to other countries and infuse international dimensions into student education, according to the college.

“This award is a direct result of the support of countless CLC staff, committed faculty, an encouraging administration, and courageous students who, deep in their hearts, believe in the importance and mission of international education and global engagement,” said CLC Director Jacob Cushing. global engagement department.

Other institutions receiving awards from the National Association of International Educators this year are: Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York; Northeastern University in Boston; Kent State University in Kent, Ohio; and Northwestern University in Evanston.

Each year, CLC welcomes 70 to 100 international students from more than 35 countries. The college also offers study abroad programs in more than 10 countries, including a semester abroad program at Yunnan University in Kunming, China. The China program has been canceled for the Spring 2022 semester.
