Oaklands Community College, Edenderry recently hosted the launch of a new program, Power 2 Progress, a program of University College Dublin (UCD) in collaboration with Zurich Ireland and Rethink Ireland, aimed at helping students achieve their academic goals .
As part of the program, teachers at the school will provide additional educational support to participating students through weekly tutorials throughout their senior years. The students involved also benefit from mobile devices to support their learning and on-site visits to UCD and Zurich offices based in Ireland to encourage students to further their education and professional careers.
Oaklands Community College Principal Brian Kehoe added, “We are seeing firsthand the impact of this program on the outcomes of participating students at our school. The program is consistent with our core values, especially excellence in education. We would like to thank UCD, LOETB, our teachers, Rethink Ireland and Zurich for their support in implementing the program. The keynote speaker at the launch was Professor Paul Rouse, a native of Offaly and UCD historian, who gave a very enjoyable and memorable speech about his educational journey and his advice to students for the future.
