Thiruvananthapuram must become a global education hub: Governor

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has advocated making Thiruvananthapuram a global education hub by leveraging the state’s advancements in technology and connectivity. That would bode well for the state capital at a time when the country was aiming for progress through digital education, he said.

He was giving the keynote address at the Trivandrum Management Association’s (TMA) two-day management convention, TRIMA2022, here on Friday. The event brings together industry leaders, senior executives and policy makers to deliberate on the development of the State Capital Region.

Emphasizing the need to foster sustainable development, the Governor said waste and wastewater management deserved priority in the modern scenario since the environment formed the basis for such development.

Achieving sustainable, inclusive and equitable development of cities by applying sound management approaches and smart solutions is of vital importance as the country strives to grow, he said.

According to him, the convention rightly recognized the social role of managers by choosing sustainable development, human capital, seamless connectivity and infrastructure, as well as innovation and entrepreneurship as key themes for development deliberations. of the capital.

The Governor has released “Trivandrum Vision-2025 — A Snapshot of City’s Vision Development Journey”, a book compiled by global consultancy KPMG, based on contributions from experts in various fields by handing it over to Space Center Director Vikram Sarabhai (VSSC), S. Unnikrishnan Nair.

Dr. Nair accepted the 2022 TMA Leadership Award on behalf of the President of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), S. Somanath. He was shortlisted for the award for his outstanding contributions to India’s space program and for infusing new dynamism into its futuristic projects.

Mr. Khan also presented the TMA Padosan CSR award to Lulu Group International. The TMA-Adani Startup Award was given to Elvicto Technologies, based at the Technopark.

In his keynote address, Dr. Nair highlighted the potential of satellite technology in urban planning and development, especially in traffic management, floodplain mapping and flood situation monitoring.
